Hello!

1. What brings you here? Keep seeing plenty of info on SPD for children, but not much for adults; seeking more info & connections
2. What is your relations to someone with SPD? Do you have it? a child of yours? Do you treat SPD kids as a professional? I was diagnosed yesterday (but suspected Aspergers for over a year) at the age of 39, possibly w/ Aspergers - seeing a specialist soon to say for sure if I have just SPD or both
3. Share a little of your journey if you'd like. Have always been hypersensitive to touch, chemicals, textures, energy, and especially smells & sounds, am very uncomfortable in public, have always been different, selectively mute, have been told I am too sensitive my entire life
4. Is there any immediate help you need? Someone close to home that could help/diagnose would be great - closest specialist is 2hrs away in another state
5. SPD doesn't run your life! What are you or your child's gifts? Interests? strong intuition & memory, very artistic & creative, learn new things super fast
6. What do you like to do in your spare time? Any hobbies or interests? photography, bead weaving/embroidery, reading, being in nature, caring for animals

So thankful I found this website & forum, look forward to exploring.
Sandra
Welcome! Another adult!

I don't know anything about getting diagnosed Sad I just was when I went to an OT because I needed OT. It was searching for the nearest person who did sensory integration OT for me, and not thinking about a diagnosis and then they wrote SPD into my evaluation.

I can give advice for other things! But not that one very well Sad
