I have constant tinnitis. does anyone know if that can be part of the issue with the sounds that drive me crazy?
I developed tinnitus after a stroke. It messes with other "normal" sounds so they are downright painful and stop me in my tracks. My audiologist says it's called HYPERACUSIS (sp?) There are treatment options available if it is too bad to handle. I am going to a specialist next week about my inner ear balance and hearing issues: Chicago Dizziness and Hearing.
Well, tinnitus can certainly exist as its own condition. I find it quite likely that there is a higher prevalence of Tinnitus in those of us who have Sensory Processing Disorder, however, due to our hyper sensitivities to sound and general inability to filter-out noises that other people can simply ignore.

Also, I'll move this thread to the 'SPD General' section, where it fits in a little better than with the introductions. Smile
