Hi,

I just wanted to take a moment to introduce my self and tell everyone a little about why I'm here. I have a 4 year old son who I believe has sensory seeking spd. My husband an I began noticing his little "quirks" for awhile know and his behavior problems have just started getting out of control which led me to look a little deeper into why these things are happening. He has always been a thumb sucker from the day he was born. He just started biting his nails. Still mouthing objects. In constant motion. Always has to smash or hit things(me, his little brother). Constantly washing hand with way to much soap. Has really poor eating habits. He will gag at most things or not eat it at all if it doesn't smell right to him. Recently just started pooping his pants ( he is fully potty trained).Behavior problems are the worst. You cannot tell him no to anything unless you want a full-on tantrum on the floor with arms and legs flailing around. I have to tell him to do EVERYTHING at least 5 times before he does it. I cannot even go into his preschool classroom anymore because he will start spitting and acting out when I get there. They have to bring him out to me. As of now we have an appointment with his doctor to discuss whats going on. Its been so frustrating. I just want answers. Thanks for letting me vent!
Hello there, and welcome to the site. Sorry for the delay in response here!

I am glad you found the site. Has your son been to an occupational therapist (OT) yet? I would certainly recommend it if he hasn't. It does sound as if he's struggling from some sensory seeking and probably hyper-sensitivities here. An OT would likely be able to offer up suggestions and a treatment plan to help him navigate his day better.

Thanks for posting, and I hope you find the support and help you need! Smile
