Hi All
My Name is Karin I'm a mother of two girls , one 18, who is fine, and a 15 year old with SPD and ASD . We are from Derbyshire in the UK.
We are battling with life at the moment because Lu (nickname) suffers from depression and severe social anxiety. On Monday the 9th of April we ended up going to the ED in our local hospital because Lu suffered a mental breakdown. Yesterday we saw a locum psychiatrist at CAMHS ( children and adolescent mental health service) He has changed Lu's medication from Citalopram to sertraline
and said she is not fit for school, so we are looking at home tutoring for now.
Lu's SPD entails ; Sound , crowds, food, clothes, smell and light and the thought of having sweaty hands ( washing hands all the time)
she hates being touched on her head and back and can't sit properly because of that.
I'm looking forward to get to know others with similar issues and share with you xxx
Welcome, maybe if she wore gloves it might help her feel better? I know with me, I need a lot of hand lotion to have my hands feel comfortable (Which has lead to the funnies of me needing to open doors with my shirt since I oiled my hands so much I couldn't grip the doorknob. XD Got to laugh at yourself sometimes right?) maybe by having gloves or something like that, it will at least help with that?
