Hello to everyone who has come here and joined. Yes, it's me, Dan. Just wanting to make sure that there was some sort of welcoming note for you guys here.

So, how do you like the new site? Any suggestions for how things could be working better? Remember, the site is still a work in progress, so things might be a bit sketchy at first. I'm working through most of the noticeable issues right now, and welcome any of your feedback as always Big Grin. If you have any suggestions, feel free to put them here or email me or whatever.
Blog feature and chat feature are now functional guys!!! Big Grin

Drop by any time. You can access them in the "Blogs" and "Chat" buttons at the top of the page. Just letting you all know. I'm also working on a member map. I plan on launching a photo gallery area sooner or later, I just need time to work through the software. I haven't looked too deeply into it yet.

Again, feel free to let me know what you think.
Hello Dan,
Thanks for starting this group I have a 6 yr old son with SPD and ADHD,
and some form of Autism not sure yet we are still in testing.

as far as suggestions go i like to see a fourm for each state that way we could connect with others close to us for support also.
Hey, momofsensorykid.

I know who you are Tongue. You're our wonderful Kentucky host. I'm going to upgrade you to Host right now so you can view the Host only board! Thanks for the state suggestion, it's something to consider, perhaps, but it would mean making a ton of forums, which would be difficult to manage at this point. I want to wait for things to get moving first Smile.

Welcome to SPD International. Please feel free to post an Introduction in the introductions forum.

Hi Dan,
thanks for the invite. I'm happy to pass along feedback -- I think initially the only thing I would suggest is that the moderators/administrators don't use screen names; the anonymity can make it difficult for newer users to feel comfortable. Just my two cents :-)

Congrats on entering the social network arena!

Ah, the screen names, yes. I've thought about this, but I'm wanting to create a mood of anonymity, as to help ensure that others feel comfortable using screen names as well. We will be indexed on Google, and the forums are publicly browse-able, so I want people to not think it's wrong to protect their identity on here by using the screen names. Granted, I'm using a screen name that is essentially my initials Wink.

I'm also allowing people who are teenagers into here, so I'm also doing things to appeal to some of the younger crowds. This is a 'different' SPD site, after all, and I want to continue to show that. It's just my thoughts on the subject.

Thanks for the input though, it is much appreciated! Big Grin
OOO, I like the state forum idea. It is hard to cennect with local people some times. It would be good to help find resources close to home. Great idea!!!

At the moment, I am coming up with a solution to this issue. In the meantime, you are welcome to discuss these topics in the general forums. We don't have a whole lot of members yet, so I'm going to at least wait for a good number of people before building a lot of forums that would basically be deserted for a long while.

Also, you can check out our group listings on SPD Parent SHARE:
SHARE - Find a Support Group
Scroll a little more than half-way down the page, and you will find the listings to all of our state groups. Those are all running at this moment.

Hope that resolves the issue for now, but I am choosing between a few options that I can pursue. Smile
