I am a mother to a wonderful, full of life, sweet 22 month old boy who was recently diagnosed with SPD. I have been through such a rollercoaster of emotions over the last few months. From shock to guilt to desperation and back around.

We have just got a great OT and have been working with a play therapist. We are still waiting on our much needed speech therapist.

I am looking forward to meeting other people who can relate. I am also ALWAYS looking for new suggestions and ideas. Most of all I am looking for support because right now I need it! hug
You are getting help for your kid fairly young. Smile SPD just happens (often in families), but it is a pretty common feature that people learn to live with.

If your symptoms are real bad and you got no help as a child, then some accomodations by others as an adult really help.

Since your child is getting assistance so young, he might be able to grow out of some of the severity of SPD so that it just becomes a mild annoyance in life versus a serious problem.
I am very thankful it was caught so early. I am also hoping and thinking he will outgrow most of it.
Wow, that's wonderful that you've caught it so young. Such a boon to him. He'll be able to grow up knowing that, even when he has problems, he has options and ways to work with it. It helps so much to know there actually are ways to take care of it, ways to make things better.

No joke, it's not going to be an "easy" thing to work with, mainly because the support system in the general run of society ain't there. But we're here. And hopefully we'll learn from one another while we help each other. Smile
Thanks for the encouraging words. Brody is my love and I would do anything to help him and make his life easier. Just a little bump in the road Smile
