My son has made several comments about having "itchy skin" and I catch him scratching a lot. We have had him tested for allergies in the past and he essentially showed none at all. We have changed soaps, used moisturizers, and his skin does not seem to be dried out at all. He always likes to change into shorts and a t-shirt or one particular pair of summer pajamas when he gets home, so it does not seem to be his clothes.
What am I missing? Could it be our laundry detergent (Tide)? Or maybe something else I am not thinking of. I am interested in hearing from those who may have ideas.
My dad gets terribly itchy skin and rectum from Vitamin C. Possibly try cutting out citric acid for a week or two to see if that helps.
Maybe try using tide with no dyes or frangrances, as well as anything else he washes in. While no one in my family necessarily has an allergy, I have found that using the dye and fragrance free detergent makes a huge difference. Good luck!
Itching is part of life. But in my experience, certain fabrics, such as wool, polyester, spandex, and especially rash-inducing latex make it much worse.
I've found I get really itchy, especially around my abdomen, after eating too much chocolate. If I eat enough I'll get a small, scaly rash. I have to eat LOTS though. Perhaps he has a mild food allergy? Not bad enough for him to break out in hives, but just bad enough to make him itch? I'm not sure what allergies he's been tested for, but maybe if it's something that isn't a common allergy but is in many things, such as onions or dairy, it was missed?
