Hey! I have a 4 year old son who in the last month was diagnosed with SPD. We live in such a small town not knowing anybody going through the same experience is hard.

We always knew our son was different but could not explain how at the time. His speech has been delayed and were told to wait it out boys talk later then girls. When he was 4 we went to apply to for a speech assessment but the waiting list was long and far away. Frustrated went another route and had a lady come and evaluate him. Right away she asked if we ever heard of spd. Never have but hearing her explain it it just clicked we knew that was our boy!

We love our little boy more than anything but it has been a tough road. Days are hard. We are just in the process of getting an O.T. and still trying to get him into speech as been a struggle. We have been researching all we can and trying things out ourselves but we feel so lost right now.

I know it will get better with time and lots of work but we know we have a long road ahead of us and it is always nice having understanding support!
All the best! While I have SPD, my nephew has mild autism and SPD - it's amazing the strides he's made with the year or so of intervention he has had. I hope that you'll find the same with your son!
