NEW and not sure about alot of things
Hello everyone--I am Tys Mom--Ty is almost 8 yrs old and he has many challenges. As his mother I feel he best fits in the SPD category due to the fact he has so many processing dsyfunctions. We have one Dr who agrees with me but is not 100% confident, so at this point he's considered Other Health Impairment. I have not read through the previous posts so bare with me if I repeat a question that has already been discussed--if you can recall where and when then please direct me to it. I have come to this forum seeking help and advice on different techniques that have helped you. I don't know how to explain my son because he is so diverse in every SPD category. As I am told he is Quite the Puzzle. What concerns us the most is how his processing disorders impact his daily life from physical to mental. To look at him he appears to be a typical almost 8 yr old--until he speaks, plays, or attempts to read and write--then it becomes quite clear he has many challenges. He is a bright, loving and sensitive little guy and we hope to keep him that way. Any advice or help anyone can offer I will appreciate. I will offer whatever I can as well.
Thank You
Penny

RE: NEW and not sure about alot of things
Welcome to the site!!! IT is great here, can you give a little more as to the things he does or does not do? My son is 8 he has SPD was diagnosed at 1 1/2 and was in Early intervention then on to private. Have you been to an OT or a developmental ped? If not I suggest those to get the ball rolling, get on them at school, set up with an IEP if you do not have one already, get some services there. Educate yourself on everything SPD, IEP, etc... take some of his behaviors and look them up as to how to help him with them with a "sensory diet". I saw you posted on another spot, I will go back and read it. Welcome it is really great here!
