How do I get over my anxiety?

Hello folks, I am a nineteen year old from Canada. I have a shy nature, and this has started demolishing my life. This character of mine has created several misfortunes throughout my life. I really want to end it. I feel confident when I am at home. But, when I need to face a crowd, I become very conscious and will lose all of my confidence. I think I have got some personality disorder. A friend of mine asked me to get anxiety disorders treatment ( http://www.cbtassociates.com/about-you/p...d/anxiety/ ) from Toronto. Is this treatment effective in treating the condition? Please give some genuine replies and suggestions. Thanks in advance.
