Anyone dealing with Sensory Processing Disorder?
I'm just wondering if it can be treated at 27 almost 28 years old. And how good I could expect to get with it.
I mean I never really knew about since a couple days ago. Most of what I know that I'm dealing with is that I have a hard time when a lot of people at once are talking it makes it hard to hear one specific person I'm trying to listen too. Or when there's just a lot of the people in the area I just get nervous. When there's too much sunlight my start to water. Basically I'm more of a evening and night person when it comes to being outside. I also have strong need more physical touch. I love hugs and probably cuddling, though I'm not good around girls. So I don't get the touch I need.
Does this stuff also have a effect on low self confidence, anxiety, social anxiety, depression. Sorry, seems like it's hard to find good information on how it effects people.

RE: Anyone dealing with Sensory Processing Disorder?
Hi dhz!
I'm sorry to hear that you have had a hard time finding the appropriate resources to help you cope with your sensory needs. It's true that a lot of our sensory processing is developed early in childhood, but that does NOT mean you are doomed to just deal with it for the rest of your life. Your brain is an amazing machine! Your brain can adapt and change. Having sensory processing issues may contribute to feelings of low self confidence, anxiety, and depression. Humans are social beings and the need for touch is a valid one. If your sensory need is the deep pressure that a hug or cuddle with someone would provide, you may want to try spandex clothing. This clothing will give you the consistent pressure that you seek.
Hope this helps!

Yeah, my parents don't really believe that I have spd. They are just thinking everything I'm dealing with is just nerves, assuming things, and ocd.
Basically, they are just thinking that I'm looking for a quick fix.
