I kniow this post is a bit old, but I must say that Hippotherapy is great. I've never done it, but I do ride and have volunteered at a riding center that worked with Downs and Autistic kids. Never would have thought of it for SPD but i guess it would make sense!
Ive been riding myself for years. It is a great escape for me from the everyday troubles that come along with living with SPD. THe horses are great therapists. They understand everything and actually listen to you. They are the best support you can have while also providing the right amount of challenge. My horse can make everything better and bring me away from reality to a place where I can feel normal. Calms my anxiety and reduces my depression. I would love to know how the hippotherapy works out for your son!
