Makeup - I have SPD. - 02-23-2011
People with SPD,
I don't like the feeling of makeup on my face. I find myself pulling away when anyone or anything gets near my face. I especially hate mascara. I'm not looking to wear it daily; I'm just trying to prepare myself for the senior prom. How do you deal with makeup? Are there any hints, tips, or tricks I should know about? I know it's early, but I thought I could get more responses if I posted it now. Thank you in advance for any input!

I just didn't wear make up My mom tried to make me wear lipstick, I ended up wiping it off anyway. Go with the natural look, wear your hair nicely and go with the flow. Everyone else's will end up coming off anyway too.

I very rarely (if ever) put on makeup, but when I do, I usually apply it with my fingertips instead of those torture devices that usually come with it. lol If you really feel the need to darken your lashes, why not just use a very dark brown eye shadow on your fingertips and start from the base of the eyelashes and wipe out. Also, a little makeup goes a long way if you know where to put it. For example, just a little of a darker color in the crease of your eyelids will make a big difference if you rarely wear makeup. Also, just a dash of a darker pink color on the lower part of your cheekbone towards the hairline.
The biggest thing, though, is that if you are set on using makeup, DON'T wait until the day of to fiddle with it. Play with it a little each day leading up to it. Figure out what you can and can't stand. That way, when it's time, it's not something new and (therefore) that much more annoying.

Makeup and me just didn't work out. Even with the best makeup expertly applied, after a few hours it causes my skin to feel like it is crawling under the makeup. Then I HAVE to wash it off immediately or the feeling will just intensify.
I found that pencils for outlining your lips and eyes are the least annoying. Lightly powdering eyes to just emphasize them lasts the longest without upsetting me.
Foundation is impossible. I will only wear it for the most important of events like when I got married. Not sure there is another life event that will be worth wearing foundation ever again.
If you wear glasses or are annoyed with things near your eyes, avoid Mascarra.
