Looking for advice! Coding OT as mental health? OT without the office visits? - ravensong - 08-14-2017
I have a very limited number of visits for therapy on my insurance left, and I need them all for PT for an injury to be able to function (and even then I won't have enough). My insurance states that OT is included as a part of my PT benefits, and will not allow me more visits, even though it is a different health problem.
Has anyone found a way to pass OT for SPD as a mental health benefit? Seriously, why isn't it a mental health benefit, I have unlimited number of those? (or I might have just answered my own question... insurance doesn't want to pay for anything)
I know that doing OT at home from youtube without seeing an OT specialist is not advised because it could crash and burn the whole sensory system, but I'm not sure I could become much less functional at this point in time, and am pretty much out of options. I'm down to twitchy and barely functional when I'm awake, but usually am just sleeping to pass the time between doctor appointments so I don't have to deal with this. I have tried a lot of the sensory diet things at home and getting nowhere.
Any advice would be welcome.
