I don't know how to help him - Carlylane - 05-25-2018
Hello.
Today my son's school told me he has a hard time engaging in anything. That some kids have a low threshold for stimulation he has a very high one. It takes a lot to get a reaction out of him. But this effects him in many ways. paying attention in school, understanding directions, making eye contact, and forming relationships. Does anyone have any idea how I can help him? At my meeting the school said, "we will have to rack our brains to figure out how to tap into him". Anyone else have this issue? Thanks

What does he regularly do if left to do what he wants?

When left alone he plays with his animal toys. Pretends they are fighting, jumping off things, or running around the house. When outside, he often runs on all fours like a lion would and says he is "on the hunt".

Maybe use that as a way to get him interested in animal behavior and things in biology? It could be a very good gate way into peaking his interest in something.
