Post you or your child's amazing gift(s)! - Dani - 06-08-2010 Okay guys, simple idea here. People with SPD, like people with forms of autism, tend to have amazing gifts that are fairly rare. Some of us have a knack for artistic things, while others thrive on data memorization, map reading, or other physically spectacular abilities. Whatever your ability is, or your child's 'insane ability,' post it here! I'll get started: I have every Stanley Cup winning team memorized back to 1943, but I used to have it all the way back to 1916 and was trying to get it as far back as 1893, the first year it was rewarded. I also have a knack for memorizing random bits of information, including trivia and quotes from TV shows, movies, and music. So, what are your cool talents and gifts? RE: Post you or your child's amazing gift(s)! - mawkinberd - 06-08-2010 Hehe... you were right about the random trivia! Truly amazing stunts. In my case, my "random trivia" talent is truly random... I'm a "liberal arts" knowledge kind of gal. My boss calls me Cliff Claven (after the character in Cheers), because I can make a random comment on just about anything he talks about. It also constantly bothers him that I know more about the history of Catholicism than he does, and he's Catholic! I also sing opera and have a BM and an MM in opera performance. Don't ask me how; to this day, I don't know how I survived my education. lol Why would someone with light and sound sensitivity get on stage with the spotlight and sing very loudly with tons of other loud singers, most of whom are somehow out of tune? But let me tell you, I can waltz with the best of them. Oh, and I'm told I give good advice. Don't know how true that is; I guess I'll let everyone else be the judge. Warranty expires right... about... now. j/k Looking forward to hearing more abilities! RE: Post you or your child's amazing gift(s)! - beck7422 - 06-08-2010 My unique skills are: understanding what make people tick and using that to help them grow into themselves, create 3-D visuals in my mind to solve complex multi-dimensional puzzles, and utilize various Math skills in games to improve my overall gaming performance. RE: Post you or your child's amazing gift(s)! - tamisamara - 08-29-2010 My daughter who is 3 is currently memorizing the bones of the body, and can tell you random facts about animals. Keeping in mind she doesn't know colors or letters, nor can she tell you what she just did. She also asks us what's that? a dozen times a day, however we discovered she always knows what the item is she is asking about, she is quizzing us like you would normally quiz a young child. I am waiting for her to stump me soon. RE: Post you or your child's amazing gift(s)! - Ourfishies - 09-05-2010 My boyfriend's super smart in so many different topics. He takes 8 university courses each semester, writes screenplays, and reads incredibly hard books for "fun". =) He's also amazing at giving insight and advice. **I just re-read the topic and realized it's "you or your child's amazing gifts". lol woops. I'll just add "or loved one" into the title ;-) RE: Post you or your child's amazing gift(s)! - tania7120 - 09-05-2010 My 23 month old has a great memory, like to create thing has yet to recreate them though, and tries to figure out how to take apart things and put them back together(electronics).
