Therapeutic Listening Observations - Tuttleturtle - 01-12-2013 I made an observations thread for the brushing protocol, and it seemed to be helpful for others, so I'm going to try to post observations for others as I start therapeutic listening as well. I got my headphones, CD player, and some CDs today. I got things used off of ebay - you can sometimes find the headphones cheaper on ebay, so if you are looking to save money it is worth looking there. My lot of stuff off ebay wasn't quite as nice as I thought it'd be - the person who posted it messed up the description , but it was useful, and still a good deal for me. Anyways observations: 1. The Sennheiser HD 500A headphones are very comfortable. 2. As I'm starting, I can't handle listening to the Rhythm and Rhyme CD for 30 minutes. It makes me feel ill, feel really odd, and in 25 minutes get to the point where my OT and I have defined that I need to stop whatever I'm doing. What I did was stop and take the headphones off at that point and did a 25 minute listening session instead of 30 minute listening session. 3. Eating while listening can make it easier to listen. RE: Therapeutic Listening Observations - Tuttleturtle - 02-16-2013 Therapeutic Listening has done more for my propioception than anything else that I've tried. (And I've been working on my propioception.) The EASE 4 CD has been absolutely great for me. I definitely had that a very good use out of that CD. RE: Therapeutic Listening Observations - LAC1961 - 02-20-2013 I'm still on the fence about it benefiting my daughter. I filled out the checklist after her first 10 week cycle, but the areas of improvement could also have been explained by her new diet and the weekly OT. She completed the second week of her second cycle tonight, so I hope to draw some conclusions when this cycle is complete. I'm glad to hear it has been great for you. Can you elaborate on how it has been great? RE: Therapeutic Listening Observations - Tuttleturtle - 02-21-2013 Regulating my sleep schedule, make it easier for me to sleep at night, making it easier for me to wake up in the morning, generally being more regulated in terms of a sleep schedule in general. Huge effects in terms of propioception. I can touch my nose with my right hand now. My left hand I'm also much better than I used to be. Overall my propioception is drastically better than it used to be. I am still clumsy, but less extremely so, and less likely to injure myself. I can tell even in two weeks that sounds like vacuums don't bother me as much. And generally it was just a really pleasant CD to listen to. RE: Therapeutic Listening Observations - LAC1961 - 02-22-2013 That's awesome. Do you have the ten CD set or just one CD? RE: Therapeutic Listening Observations - Tuttleturtle - 02-22-2013 I own 1 and 4 (and some of the Jamz CDs). I might borrow some of the others from my OT. RE: Therapeutic Listening Observations - LAC1961 - 02-23-2013 We were able to get the Therapeutic Listening 10 CD set through our OT that included head phones. I was also interested in Lollipop Kids, which I believe is strictly Mozart music. I hadn't heard of Jamz, but I'm glad you like it. RE: Therapeutic Listening Observations - Tuttleturtle - 02-24-2013 I've not listened to any of the Jamz ones. They're too difficult for me to listen to. I'm too sensitive for them. So, we're working up to me being able to listen to them. |
