Hello to all,I new to the forum and to the SPD altogether. This is my story I have a two year old daughter who has some issues and I'm not sure if what she is exhibiting is SPD so anyone please offer input. She stayed at home with me (mom) for the first 2 yrs before I decided to enroll her in some kind of daycare. Needless to say she got very attached and suffered some amount of seperation anxiety. I just enrolled her in preschool and a number of problems have started to crop up. At around 9 months she started to regress in weight gain because she wasn't eating anything much at all,her paedetrician told me she seems to be a picky eater and because her weight wasn't coming up to par refered me to a dietian. Dietian gave me a number of protein powders and meal plans to incorporate none of it worked, she gained maybe 1 or 2 pounds.. I tried through research using a herbal supplement nothing significant there either. I gave her Cod Liver, B-Complex to open her appetite nothing much so I basically rresorted to giving her the 3 or 4 foods she would pick at. I noticed one day something was off when I bought this computer type toy for that was singing ABC and realized when I played it she got red in the face, turned sad and started to cry and tell me turn it off. I thought she was just being silly and kept playing it recognnised that it was really affecting her. I noticed too that songs playing (sad songs) would make her cry. I have now put her in school and have reports from her teacher that she fighting with her peers, trying to scratch their faces, she doesn't play or really participate in activities, she is very withdrawn from her peers and she has literally cling to her teacher daily. I don't know what to make of all this, could this SPD. She also has issues fighting me when it comes to brushing her teeth, she is also picky about her shoes. I will stop there for now and hope I can get some feedback from anyone. Thanks in advance.

It could be SPD. I recommend you ask your pediatrician for a referral to an Occupational Therapist for an evaluation. In addition, reading the book The Out-Of-Sync Child by Carol Kranowitz would be very informative for you. That's the first book I read which led me to believe my daughter had SPD, and she was evaluated by an OT and diagnosed with it. She's been getting OT since July last year and has made great improvements due to the OT and a change in her diet.

Sounds like there is some SPD there, you have to go to an OT to get an eval. then take it from there.
