Yes, on many counts. When we adopted our daughter at 27 months, she was always banging her head--on the floor, the wall, with her hand, with her fist, with a toy. We cut out sugar and she stopped doing it. I read "Little Sugar Addicts" and implemented the diet in that book, and that eliminated that behavior. The other behaviors, poor impulse control, inattentive to instruction, rules, and hates change, are definitely connected to the SPD. I recently borrowed a book from our OT that has a chapter about behavioral management, which has been very helpful. It's called "Management of Children and Adolescents With Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder." Our daughter does not have ADHD, but the method recommended in the chapter about behavior management is definitely working--it's not easy though!
