DD's battle with things being in "order"
I posted an introduction post here a while back, and have creeped here and there since (although I haven't done much posting).
My 7 1/2 year old daughter has been being treated weekly by a specialist in adolescent brain development and FINALLY got to have an OT evaluation and all preliminary results point to SPD. I'm not saying I'm thrilled about the diagnosis, but after fighting this battle all this time I think I would be thrilled with ANY diagnosis (at least I know I'm not crazy, eh?).
Something we've picked up on recently is DD's "rituals". Before she leaves the specialists office she has a NEED to put things away in a certain way, to "clean up" in a special order, etc.
Now, you would never know it, looking at her bedroom. She is constantly disorganized.
But there are certain areas in DD's "world" wherein she has a NEED to complete tasks in a VERY particular order. Tasks that aren't "sensory" (i.e. cleaning up/arranging things in a certain order).
Is this another byproduct of SPD that I just haven't read about yet? Anyone else with similar experiences?
