At a loss!!!!! Need your input!
My ( will be in 4 days) 9 year old has turned out to be amazing! He has overcome so many obstacles and I am so proud of his accomplishments, how he has adjusted, etc... There is a one/half glitch and it is pretty big... his frustration with other children who are not at his intellectual level at his age and his confrontational mouth with me.
I have watched him evolve over the years regarding how he handles when he becomes too over stimulated. It started with biting, then hitting, screaming, now it is this awful sassy mouth! With other children it is attacking them like he wants to hurt them at times. He was in four fights at school, last school year, yesterday at his sleepover he went after one of his friends for taking apart his Lego, then when I punished him, after that he went in his room and would not come out until this child went home ( he was leaving because he could not spend the night) every time this boy went to go and just look at him my son would SNAP! and yell about him looking at him. He does spend a bit of time with this boy, he is my sitters son ( that could be a bit of the problem and this boy has SPD) He has one friend , his best friend that he can maintain himself with, they are like old souls together. Anyway... I am thinking a social worker might be what he needs? I have to get on his sassy mouth with consequences, but you would think he was on a debate team. He is just too smart, he corrects people's improper grammar...but when he gets so angry he cannot stop himself and that is scary. What are any of your thoughts. I think it is time for going to see some type of social worker. Thanks in advance for your help!!!!!!
