I would say YES! Occupational Therapy focused on the reflexes is what my 13 year old is currently doing for her SPD, which includes very restrictive eating. To get OT, we went through quite a process of doctor wanting neurological testing first, neurological testers wanting counseling first, the OT wanting original doctor RX but it had already been over a year so they wanted to see her again before giving the referral we originally asked for. THANKFULLY, we found a pediatrician who is DO who took us seriously and immediately gave me the RX for the OT.
M daughter loves the OT and it really does help. The only thing I would say on the food is that I had someone recently tell me that severe tactile food issues are one of the main indicators that might push a sensory diagnosis over into an autism diagnosis, which probably would not change treatment, but might change the other sensory diet approaches used.
Best of luck to you.
